Hi Honda XL600 1999, pre-owned. I have a non-responsive starter switch. No ignition, no spark, nothing. Problem started with an indicator - water got in and corroded the contacts. I took out the bulb, housing and cleaned the lot, pared back the wires to clean copper. The indicator still didnt work so I replaced the relay. When I was testing that the power drained (because I ran the lights too long without running the engine). I was trying to wheel the bike back out of the garage so I could drive around and charge the battery, and I noticed a great deal of resistance when trying to wheel it back (like it was in gear, but it wasn´t). So I took out the battery to charge inside, now the battery would no longer hold a charge, probably because it had been left sitting in the cold too long. So I recently replaced it. New battery inserted, no response. No ignition, no spark, nothing. Have I damaged the starter motor? Any advice appreciated! |
