Hello. I recently had a 1980 XL 500S given to me that had sat in a covered barn for 23 years. I checked for spark several times and rode the bike in my small yard once. A few days later, I tried to start the bike again, however it would not fire. After removing the stator cover, the flywheel magnets and the stator were really soaked in oil. I have the bottom case off the bike now. Is there a seal missing? I can see no seal cutouts like other bikes I have worked on. Would really appreciate some help with this one. Thank you Roy
