Bike stops running

I have 1985 XL350, bike is clean with 11k miles. Problem is bike stops running at about 15 minutes. I let sit then will run for a bit and shut down again. Local mechanic rewound stater and tried a second CDI unit but after 15 minutes it shut down again consistently. Any ideas?
