I bought a 1985 VT1100C recently for a bike trip in Sept. I have a clatter under the right rear valve cover when I start it cold. once it warms-up the noize goes away. I was going to adjust the camchain, but can´t find any mention of cam chain ajusting in the book. Can you adjust this chain or is it suppose to be automatic? If I can´t get this to stop I will have to pull the engine and open it up. The bike runs fine otherwise with a little back firing on deceleration.
