I have 3 xl 185´5, 1 x xl 175 and 2 x sl 125 with orig mileage ranging from 3000 klms to 22,000 miles and none of them blow any smoke at all (touch wood). Your 10,000 klms is only 6000 miles so it depends on how it was looked after(ie thashed / was air cleaner fitted/ oil changed reg/ any number of reasons why the bike has worn at this early stage on an otherwise problem free bike. Some say it is from the increased compression caused by fitting all new gaskets and seals others say disturbing the rings/bore/carbon deposits on pistons/rings. Do a compression test now (hot and cold)but at the end of the day you may now have to check and redo the bore, piston, honed, new rings, bearings and a valve grind, good luck.Honda sell a great oil for the early 4 strokes from 70´s & 80´s for about $10.00 litre, which is the correct amount for an oil change anyway. |
