Hi Mike, as you correctly pointed out, the wear is similar to a car, which is on account of the very car-like front suspension, and as with a car, you can alter the geometry in much the same way, causing uneven tyre wear. If you visit www.gtsclub.org, there´s a pool of guys on there who may be able to give you some directions on how to cure it (it´s not too complicated from what I´ve read in the past, but I honestly can´t remember the procedure).
