The nice thing about the VTX is that if you put a regular sized woman on the back, you can´t tell she´s back there. It doesn´t slow up at all. All the way to 100 mph. It has so much torque! I go about 115 to 125 miles at "normal" speeds before the low fuel light comes on, so 35-40MPG sounds about right. The suspension is not cushy and it does not have a Cadillac type ride. It is firm. Even with a large person on the back the tire has never hit the rear fender. If you go on long trips you may want to do something about the seat, replace it or get a gelpad etc. The worst part about the bike is that it is heavy. Very heavy. That is the first thing you notice while climbing on. When you are tired it can be a bear while stopped, so don´t step into any holes and you must teach passengers not to move abruptly while the bike is slowing to a stop. On the plus side wind gust don´t move it around. It is very solid and stable at speed.
