Blown Fuse

I went on 200 mile take off was all back roads cruising at about 55mph,no problem their. On way back home I took the interstate back home and that was at about speed of 80mph for about 45min straight and not a problem yet stopped at a biker bar for about half an hour an then took off and hit the highway for about another 20minutes till I got home and on the last 5 - 10 minutes of the ride my overheat light came on. Luckily this happend on the home stretch. Couple of days later it was towed in to be serviced and was told that the fuse to the fan had blown.
Just wandering what could of caused it to blow. Has anyone had this problem with their bike before?
