I´m a motorcycle mechanic in Ottawa and personally believe the Superhawk is a way understated bike. This bike of all the bikes I´ve owned, was the most reliable and fun to ride. I once owned a 2000 Firestorm and sold it to buy a RC-51. I missed the Firestorm enought that I bought one a few years later, a 2003 with the updated guage package, suspension and tank. In this modern day world where everybody is buying and riding the same bike..this bike has character and is admired by all who have come accross it. I´ve also made some modifications to it as of late: Undertail kit, flush mounts and exhaust/jetting. This makes the bike sound and feel even more throaty and the low-end grunt is amazing. It handles like a 500cc Ninja and its too much fun in the twisties..in fact, that´s where it belongs unlike alot of litre bikes. Sure there are other bikes, bikes that are more common, but the only reason this bike never made it big was timing, as Suzuki advertised harder. If you appreciate the sexyness of this ride and yearn for something a little more individual, give it a shot u won´t forget.
If you can find one of these bikes and are looking for the ultimate compromise for a street ride with the comfy option of touring back roads, buy a Superhawk/Firestorm! Too much fun with loads of character! I recommend 2003+
