I have the same problem. I was checking thE cush drive (even though there is not enough grunt to destroy it) and I found that me rear wheel bearings had were about to collapse. After changing them the shudder went away. So far I have found that not many mechanics know much about the VTR250´s. My bike has 43000km on the clock and is a 1999 series 2 model.
