Last Saturday I took my ’83 vt500C on a 250 mile ride. It worked fine most of the time but I was about 20 miles from home and it lost power all of the sudden. When this happened the temp went up immediately and it was on red. I stopped and let it cool for a while, but then it was hard to get it started again, I barely made it home, it was backfiring the whole time and I had to give it a lot of gas to just make it to 20 MPH. It has been burning oil for a while so I have had my eye on the oil level. When I go home it had burnt almost all the oil. I filled it up again and parked it, I tried to ride it again the next day but it is still the same. Could someone please give me some ideas as to what I can do or check? Thank you.
