I have this bike in the black color scheme and have removed the decals on the side panels which makes it look nice . I got it with non stock handlebars that are pretty much short and straight like drag bars . I also have bar end mirrors on it which are a blessing to use . The handlebar configuration seems to have required a bit of welding under the steering head . My mechanic pointed it out to me and said it is most likely to keep the bars from banging into the gas tank . It shortens the lock to lock of the steering radius but has never interfered with my steering in any noticeable way . I used to have a 500 shadow which I loved a lot but sold so a friend could get back into bikes again . When I saw this I recognized the motor/transmission/driveshaft configuration and thought to my self Oh boy I know this one just a different seat ! I bought it and found out I was a bit off and I am still glad about that ! My shadow accelerated like a steam locomotive and you could fall asleep riding it as steering was lazy and comfortable with more than adequate stopping power and a big gas tank . This baby is the exact opposite of all that except the brakes which are even more adequate as they need to be with the terrific acceleration this bike has ! Yow another world totally . This thing had trouble doing less than a hundred when I first got it and wasn´t used to it yet . I have not taken a passenger on it but it is comfortable for just the rider and some stuff tied on the back seat . The short handlebars make you very aware of the steering as you ride it and will definetly keep you on your toes . The bike is light with very responsive handling . It takes bumps like a sports vehicle rather than a luxury rig so a bit harsh but with excellent feedback . This thing handles very accuratley . The bike runs like a top with fair fuel consumption which makes me want a bigger tank but I have done my share of road trips on it . I have had it about 7 years and estimate around 5,000 miles on it . Had it up to 125 by it´s speedometer and the world is skitterish from that view . Not a slow machine very comfortable for one up and you can ride this one and have fun ! I have no fairing and don´t think even aftermarket was made for this one or reccommended by the manufaturer . Nice and quiet mufflers stock . Hot rodding stuff is available for it and some of them run in various competitions from time to time . I think the red one looks hotter than my all black bike but I love my handlebars way better than the stock ones . as ever Enjoy Life Willi |
