As an engineer and motorcyclist, i can really appreciate a good design. the VT500 engine is a very well designed and built engine. Though modern knowledge builds better engines today, for the period, this new Vee engine for Honda was a big step in the right direction. Today in 2018 my rebuilt vt500 engine in a much modified frame is a real delight and has a high power to weight ratio for this compact water cooled engine. it was a starting point for Honda to create a vee twin shaft drive and a very successful one. A great engine for any project build or restoration. Only the lower frame around the swinging arm supports and the swinging arm cross brase needs attention on bikes that got wet and damp for 30 years, but easily checked and rebuilt. im defiantly going to save another and build a cafe racer.
