I´ve never owned a sports bike so I don´t have that comparison but I wouldn´t call it a snail. If you want it to be it can be very sedate and you do need to use the gears a lot (compared to cruisers which I have owned), but if you want to go quick then its fun enough for me. Don´t forget that its a biggish engine for quite a light bike.
