Hmm not uncommon comment from VTec owners new and second hand alike see this attached link to the VFR owners club forum huge discussion on this topic.... http://www.bikersoracle.com/vfr/forum/ The VTEC opens up its second second pair of valves per cyl hydraulically at around 7000 rpm then it comes alive - There is vast discussion from a forum poll that about 4 in 10 Vtecs suffer from miss - set items for eg the Starting valve balance, throttle position sensor voltage, to mention but two. Highly recommended by 90% of owners is to fit a K&N airfilter, oxygen sensor eliminators, and for the whole nine yards a power commander 3, with aftermarket exhausts such as Staintune or lasers. PLEASE READ the forum for detailed info on this - there are some guys whom have invested a lot of time money and effort in this topic. There are bits the dealer should be able to assist with. I pick mine up this week (03 red -private sale) after a test ride - this will be my second VFR, this particular one was slightly throttle sensitive at very low rpm but not dissimilar to my previous. i will be fitting some if not all of the above. But unfortunately the throttle hesitation is a nature of fuel injection, which can be exaggerated by some poor settings which can be unsettling if yuo have come from a carb´d bike...stick with it, the VFR is a superb bike - unfortunately spoilt by poor setup sometime even from Mr Honda... Print some of the forum discussion out and take it to your dealer for checking - hope this helps and best of luck/wishes John (Washingotn DC area)
