Sorry I don´t have an answer to your question, but I can validate your concern.

I just finished checking out my friend´s VFR. I noticed the heavier than normal clutch as well. If a bike could be considered "mint", this one is with only 5000 miles and garage kept. I can´t help but wonder why it´s so tight. Surely, it can be adjusted though. Good luck.
