New to the Sabre, 1985 Honda V700. Got a great deal on this bike, 14,500 miles sitting in my Dads friends yard for 16 months. Several hands of poker later I had a bike for $300. DEAL! Great condition. I changes all the fluids, plugs, and bleed the clutch. Removed and cleaned the tank. Filled up used a fuel line cleaner. New Battery, and it started the first time I turned it over. Nice! Drove it around several miles, pushed through all the gears. It moves with a nice kick. 500 lbs. Not the heaviest bike, but I am a skinny as white boy, so I like it! Now as the engine heats, I´m pushing 4 blocks on the guage, not that hot! Right? I´m crusing in arounf 4-6 rpm range, and the engine starts losing power in any gear. Clutch seems fine, gears are changing on the Readout , but it is simply not enguaging. I can rev it in any gear and no forward motion. I shut the bike down. I can still change the gears, but I am not in a gear the moves freely, like neutral. Bike cools. I´m back and ready to go and can engauge the shaft and drive untill it gets hot again. What´s going on? Is the this the cam problem requiring an oil modification to bring the oil up top? Or, do I have bigger problems? Lookin g for a dignosis... Marcus the Rookie Looking for |
