I´m just a shade tree mechanic, learning as I go! I had that problem too, so I just bought a used gear shifter assembly off of e-bay. I lucked out and got a decent one. It still has some slop though. Yeah, it must be a worn out bushing. Sorry I couldn´t help any further. Good luck!
