I´ve only done 7,000 miles in the last year on my ST 1300 but I have not experienced any of the problem previously discussed. The bike has had the recall for sump and engine bolts.
I find the bike very stable up to 120 mph, above that it can get a little "weavey" if the screen is in the high position. If I feel the need to drive at speeds higher than that I drop the screen to its lowest position and live with the noise, the bike is then again totally stable.
I was not totally convinced that linked braking was something I needed but after 7000 miles I forget it is there and the bike is sooo stable under baking.
After 13 years of the ST 1100 I find this bike lighter, faster, more nimble and more economic than the 1100 (and I thought that the 1100 was a great bike). I guess I ride at about 80 to 90 mph and the gas milage is 44 to 45 MPG over the 7,000 miles.
I changed the tyres at 7,000, (I should have changed them sooner- a weekend away exposed the fabric-ops!). What I did notice was that the rear tyre was worn to the wear indicators on the sides, that did not happen on the 1100, I would like to think I am cornering harder but maybe the bike just wears tyres more.
I do notice more heat coming from the bike but in Scotland that is generally a good thing. We are going to southern Europe this summer so we´ll no doubt get first hand knowledge of excessive heat.
Would I buy another one? Probably-in another 13 years. I love it!
