Honda SL 125 TDC and valving

I recently got a Honda SL 125 I believe it is a 72 or 73. To make a long story short the bike was being worked on before and the cam shaft was removed and not marked with it´s location. I have never done much work on 2 strokes so I am wondering how to go about setting the timing and everything up again? I noticed the spot the cam shaft goes in is kinda butterflied out at the top so it will only fit in 1 way, is that the position that the cam should be in with the cylinder TDC? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
