Hey sl experts I was wondering if any of you have experiance with setting up ignition timing on a ported and cammed engine? The engine builder had me set the pionts at .009 stock timing marks on the crank. It should also be mentioned that I am running an ac 6volt magnito from a 1974 xl 125 which is legal for ahrma motocross.I am racing the last few races in the western series this year to get the bugs out for next years national series. OK here is what Iv´e done so far I´ve tried removing the air cleaner,I´ve gone to a free flowing exaust 1 3/8 i.d. Also jetted down and up on the main.MY quetsion is could it be with such a small poit gap .009 that the dwell is too long and the coil is not charged enough to give hot spark for a complete burnoff at combustion? Could it be without a battery ignition system I cannot run my points this close? I cannot run electronic igniton as AHRMA has singled out this model and specified poits only ignition thanks no. 960
