Excess Vibration |

My ´98 ACE developed a vibration around 16k miles. I had the dealer check it out. The results: It vibrates more than most but there´s nothing wromg with it. Basically. you have a brand new bike that just has 16k on the odometer. The vibration increased to the point where things started rattling. I had to remove the footboards because they transferred the shaking more than footpegs. I now had 22k miles registered. I took it to another local dealer who said they could fix the problem. One week and almost $400 later, the exceptionally clean bike was picked up from the dealer filthy with crap burnt on to the V&H exhausts. They repaired an insignificant, infrequent oil leak and sync´d the carb with the pipes. Also, supposedly fixed the rattle - didn´t. The bike now vibrates more when going thru the gears than before, the rattle returned after 2 days and is louder than before. It may be a little smoother running around 70 mph on the expressway. At some speeds the handlebars shake, at other speeds the highway bars take turns vibrating so much you can see them move. They alternate the shake based on the engine rpm. please help. any ideas. thanks...cliff ps. i have babied this bike, changed fluids regularly, and used synthetics since about 8k miles. The V&H pipes have been on the bike since the summer of ´99. |
