Oil leak

I have a 1995 VT1100C2. Previous owner laid it over and broke off the gear shifter. I had a new one welded on. After putting it all back together, (new o´rings on oil tube) it is leaking oil out of the shifter. I have reassembled it numerous times now. Anyone have any iideas why it would be leaking? And what to do to stop it?
