1996 was the year that honda changed to the 5 speed tranny on the shadow, mine has a 5 speed, but when I purchased the bike the dealership told me it had a 4 speed gear box!, ok. I checked on the specks and it seems that the only diff is the 5th gear on the new tranny is a overdrive. RIDE ON!!!!!!
