I purchased my 2007 VLX Deluxe new May 1st 2008, and as of Nov 20th have reached over 12500 on the Odometer. So you can see that it´s a great riding bike, with a Harley sporster look and feel. Being 475 LBS with the windshield and saddlebags attached, it´s a fairly light bike for cruising around town, with more than enough power for the freeway, but is a little buzzy over 70-75 mph. Mine tops out at around 100 MPH since I removed the exaust baffles(sounds great) and removed the stock airbox for a simple filter attached directly to the carburetor, and changed the stock 125 main jet to a 135. I have also removed the passenger pillion seat, first as I don´t take passengers, second because in my opinion it improves the style a lot, and because I´m having a lugage rack custom made for the longer bare fender without the pillion seat. I´m also in the middle of painting all the parts of the engine/transmission that are not chromed matt black to improve it´s looks a little more, then a good friend of mine that is a Honda mechanic is going to swap the stock carburetor for one from an 883 sporster. and with some other mechanical mods will get enough power to tour the western USA on it next year. I don´t know why honda chose to discontinue the VLX600 model, but 2007 was it´s last year of manufacture. They will achieve 55-60 MPG if driven 60-65 MPH and because they were really over engineered, if you do proper maintanence I have had VLX owners that have swore that they got over 50,000 trouble free miles out of thiers. I don´t know how true that is, but I intend to find out for myself, as because of some problems with my bones I cannot handle a bigger bike, so I´m gonna ride the wheels off this one, as well as aquire a couple more VLX´s, one to make a bobber, and one to make a full on chopper. Anyone wish to talk more about Honda´s lil harley, email me at glenn.merideth@gmail.com, I welcome all discussions
