Does the seat lift up?

Does the seat lift up?

Recently I bought a 2002, 600VLX Deluxe as my first bike. But it didnt have to owners manual and now I´d like to know if I can lift the seat to reach the battery. I´d also like to know how i can adjust the suspension.
