Is this bike a good bike for a beginner??

Is this bike a good bike for a beginner??

I am just learning how to ride motorcycles and I recently bought a Honda Shadow Ace 1100cc (crazy I know) and realize that this bike is way to big for me for my first bike. I am looking to down size and was wondering if this 600 would be a good bike for a beginner? I just got out of the motorcycle safety course that is pretty much all the experience I have on motorcycles.. So would this 600 be a good beginner bike or should I start with a 250cc?
