If you have an after market exhaust system, the carbs are not breathing right. I had the same problem. I rejeted the carb, but without success. There is a vacuum line that runs from the back of the crossover tube between the carbs to the bottom of the frame. Following the advice of a senior master mechanic, I cut this down tube to about 12 - 14 inches long and the bike started running smoothly.
