I live/work in Hanoi, Vietnam and have been driving my Honda Shadow 125 for about one year. It has proven to be an excellent machine for in-city use: it blows away most of the small step-throughs on the road here. Great head-turner as well - all the Vietnamese think it´s a 500. Yeah, it is not a high-speed cruiser. But for a 125 it performs very well. I have found my Shadow 125 to be extremely reliable and low-maintenance. I have had only limited opportunity to get this thing out on the highways here. Mine cruises most comfortably at between 70-80 km/h. Like everyone else says, it´s gutless on hills. I did round trip from Hanoi to Quang Binh about two months ago (12 hours one-way). Not exactly a Goldwing, but still... not too bad comfort-wise for the long haul. Overall I have been very happy with the Shadow 125. When I move back to the US I will probably take it with me for my daughter to drive when she starts high-school in a couple of years. I would like to hear from anyone who has or knows where I can find a repair manual for the Shadow 125. Would also be interested in hearing from other enthusiasts. |
