Troubleshooting starter engine issues |

Hey mates I was wondering if you could help me out troubleshooting an issue with my scooter´s starter engine After a few weeks I´ve purchased it, it just won´t start using the starter button. Works fine using the kick starter Battery seems fine as lights and horn works well After charging it for 12hs, the starter worked after a few tries Looks like it gets jammed if I press the starter button all the way through, pressing half way seems fine I can hear the starter engine relay being activated just fine too, pretty much every time I use the button. After I charged the battery, using a voltmeter, I got an average reading of 13,5 volts. And after installing it back to the scooter, with the engine running over mid throttle, I would get the same sort of reading. Even more, almost 14 volts. So it looks like it is being charged over time by the scooter´s alternator. I thought I should probably remove the starter and clean the contacts, but I´m not sure that would solve the problem. Any ideas? Many thanks! |
