Offroad???

I´m thinking about getting a Ruckus for my farm. Can this scooter take offroad abuse? I´ve heard the engine is too low to the ground and will take in dust and dirt causing maintenance issues. Looking for advice on a simple to operate, relatively safe bike for my farm...Help!
