back rest on the Reflex Sport

My wife just bought a 2002 Reflex. We would like to add a back rest to the rear seat, but really do not want a Givi trunk. I have seen that the Reflex Sport does have a small rear back rest. Does anyone know if the rear back rest on the sport offers much back support? Also does anyone know if I can simply remove my rear spoiler and install the handle and backrest off a sport model?
