Genuine HP on a restricted model is about 12 or so HP. Good enough for 75mph. 0-60 in about 12 seconds. About 25-27 once destricted, which is good enough to hit at least 95mph, 105-110 with the bigger sprocket(Although doing the sprocket takes your 0-60 from about 5 seconds to just over 6). To derestrict an NSR, check www.nsr125.com for details on a UK spec bike, or www.freedomforce.co.uk for de-restriction guides the UK, French, Italian and German 1993 to 2003 models. The NSR is much more reliable then the Aprillia RS125, due mostly to Honda being rock solid, but usually because most 2nd hand RS´s have been ridden very hard. The NSR will also need less work then the RS, in pretty much all areas. But the NSR isn´t as fast as the RS, but the difference is VERY tiny, plus IMO the NSR is a lot nicer to ride, and handles and stops a little better. Engine will last a fair old time if ridden sensibly, but its a 2 stroke 125... gotta be ridden hard to go anywhere really ;) Don´t let horror stories of RS125´s dying put you off buying an NSR, mine serves me very well, be it riding calmly to work, screaming through the countryside or having fun with people at traffic lights :P. |
