Your side panels should come out with ease. The left side has the tool kit and is locked by a key. Put your key in and turn it to open it. Then just give it a tug. It is held in place by tight fitting plastic tabs. Same with the right side. Take out the Allen head bolt, and then just pull off the side covers. I have a 2006 C50T and I just had mine off last week.
