Your Dealership didn´t do you any service...finding the right fit in a motorcycle is the most important thing..more important than brand name, engine size, style..both for your safety and riding comfort. While you can learn to ride any bike it is very important to select a bike that feels comfortable. This is much more important for bikes than it is for Cars. You should feel comfortable and confident when sitting, and by confident I mean comfortable with the weight and feel. The levers, handlebars and switches should be easy to get to without straining. You should be able to shift and brake comforable without stretching yourself out. You will find that if you ride any distance these factors will be very important. For instance, a lot of riders will dismiss having to stretch a little to reach the handlbars, and then will experience pain in the back between the shoulderblades on a long ride as a result. I am a ridercoach with the PA motorcycle safety program and my experience is that finding a bike that fits/suits the rider very important, especially with beginners who may not be confident in their skills. Hope this helps. Dave |
