Yes, it´s a ok price- these motors run 60,000 miles if maintained! Easily.A scooter mech./ helix fanatic here in Ptld.,Or. explained- the little 50cc´s (to 125 cc´s) run hard to hit 35-55 mph., where the helix is running just over idle going 30 mph.. In-town, the larger 250 motor lopes along most of its life at 1/2 throttle, going 0 to 50 mph. without trying! So it lasts forever with the built-in baby- treatment on the faster motor. The c.v.t. transmission is bullet-proof, smooth as butter, wonderful. Suspension is old-school, but works. Single disc brake in front. It does the hi-way ok but, to me, it´s more 0 to 55+ mph. bike, you know? The trunk is great, lots of errand space. Gas mileage is 62 mpg. Top speed is 72 mph.;on my 2nd. helix- just love them- never, ever buy cheap chinese crap , whatever the deal! Yeah, stick with the helix- they´re all the same from the 1987 to the 2007. Had a ´87 for 8 years ( ´til last mo.)- No trouble, stick to the scheduled maint. on it, use good oil ( Only 20-50 weight, acc. to dealer.)- Warm it 1-2 mins. (if really cold out, 3-4 mins.). I try to go mellow for a few mins. and, yeah man, happy sailing! Just got a ´08 burgman 400, which hauls serious %!¤for a scooter,(easily over 100 mph.) but love the helix more- it is a low-rider, I ride on the front edge of the passenger seat and stretch out low. Man! Sweet handling, quiet! ( I work in noise all day, so that part was a huge to me). Yes, water-cooled motor. Go for it ;) |
