Just took delivery of a 1980 GL1100, so far so good. Put two new Dunlops on it to pass safety everything else was good, one owner bike. Only problem so far is the neutral light is on almost all the time, seems to be brighter when in actual neutral, likely a switch I guess. Previous bike was a 750K some years ago but I got spoiled riding a buddies 76 GL1000. Randy, your over heating may be the normal position for that gauge, there is no set position and if it falls into the normal range it is likely ok. If you can call the previous owner that should solve the problem. Hope that helps but if it seizes up you have a problem.:-)Sounds like it runs and shows a bit warmer maybe change the guage.
