Good evening! This is June 21st 2004. I´m considering buying a 1981 Honda GL 1100 Gold Wing. I´m going to look at it for the first time tomorrow after work. It´s up for bid in my local newspaper for $1500.00 being the starting bid, with the reserve not being met. Looking at pictures of this bike it looks very clean. It has many new things done to it recently with documentation to back it up from a popular motorcycle shop around town. The engine has been rebuilt, the water pump is brand new, the timing belts are brand new, the spark plugs are new, the brakes have been rebuilt, the master cylinder has been replaced with a new one, the carburators have been rebuilt and a vetter fairing is installed on it. What do you think a fair price would be for this bike? And for this particular model, what kind of things should I look for that may be faulty at this age or typically wrong with it period? I intend to use this bike on the interstate as well as country back roads. Can you tell me the positives about this bike with the negatives as well? Thanks for your time. Please email me at m.nolen@mchsi.com. Mark |
