What RPM should my CX 500 be at 60 MPH

My 1979 CX 500 is in beautiful condition, but everyone tells me my RPMs are too high for the speed I´m going. It reads about 5,500 RPM at 55 miles per hour. and 6,000 at 60 MPH. Is this right? How does it compare to other CX 500´s and is there a web site that has these kind of specs. Thanks
