A CX500 is a well made, reliable bike. I have 54,000 miles on mine, and I feel it is all the bike I need. Personally, I think that you should start with a Honda Nighthawk 250, since you have no riding experience, but if you are careful, a CX500 is not a bad bike to start with. Once you get some experience, you will grow into the CX500´s capabilities. I do have a couple of things to caution you about. The brakes leave much to be desired. I have been told that the bikes sold in Europe had dual front disc brakes, while the US bikes have a single front disc brake. The second caution has nothing to do with a CX500, but with you. I want you to go to a motorcycle school to learn the basics, if you haven´t done so already. Then, after about 6 months you are going to think you know everything about riding a bike. WRONG! That is when a lot of new riders get over-confident and get into accidents, and accidents hurt. One more thing: get a good helmet to protect your head and face. |
