I like it ! |

I love my old 78 cx500 ! It is not the fastest 500 honda ever made but it is amazingly comfortable and very steady on the road . I am a cautious rider not given to race mode and envelope pushing . In a near accident situation in the rain I was able to lean this bike a good way over to avoid a nasty situation and I found the bike not only held well but was pretty consistant about doing it . The bike is heavy and you never want to push it any where . It carries it´s weight high up as well . This is nice out on the road as the bike sits like a rock on the road around tractor/trailer wind storms and breezy bridge crossings . Rolling it in and out of narrow parking spots will kill you though . My first road trip was to Georgia from NY on this beauty and I am happy to report that this is the first bike I have owned with a stock seat that doesn´t give me "Numb Butt" on a long run ! I will likely never get another seat for this bike as long as I own it and the current seat doesn´t fail or get damaged . I bought it used with an engine case guard installed which is a very good option on this machine especially until you figure out how to maneuver it in and out of parking spaces . Balance is critical and easy to under or over estimate when you aren´t yet familiar with it . On the road it is heavenly . Not a speed demon but I am sure somebody can figure out how to hot rod it although I´d never need to . I have ridden it for about 6 years not sure on mileage but several three or more state road trips likely exceeded 8,000 miles with it . Rust in some places is beginning now so I have to counter attack . I store indoors under a cover . Gas mileage is fair . I´d buy another in a heartbeat . Comfortable with a passenger as well . Upright riding posture puts you right in the wind but I wear a full face helmet and love naked bikes . It takes a while to crack 100 on this baby but she will do it and is VERY stable . as ever Enjoy Life Willi |
