I found out what this problem was. Take some contact cleaner (REAL electrical contact cleaner, not WD40) and spray it into the holes on the bottom of the starter switch (There are small holes where the tube included with most cans will easily fit) and work the starter switch back and forth while spraying generous amounts into the switch casing. Do this repeatedly with the power off on the bike for about 2 minutes and then start up the bike and the light will most likely be working.
