I just got an ´81 CM400 and it runs and rides well, but if I give it a lot of gas the clutch seems to slip. Say I´m going along at 40mph and I accelerate QUICKLY, the engine rpms go up, but the bike does not accelerate. Everything is fine if I accelerate at a normal rate, but if I need to get out of someone´s way I´m afraid it might not be good enough. I don´t notice it in 1st or 2nd gear, I can take off from a start as fast as I want to. (I haven´t tried doing wheelies or anything =] ) The clutch cable seems to be adjusted correctly, so do I need new clutch plates? If I need a clutch, is it a simple matter to replace the parts, or is it tricky? How much would a shop in the MidWest charge to replace the clutch? Thanks for your time. ~Ben
