Check the stator on the left side of the engine for rust. Rain may have leaked inside and damaged it. It took me months to find that mine was faulty. Also make sure the inside of the tank isn´t rusty. If it is, just use a 3-part treatment and coating product. I can get you more information if needed. Try bikebandit.com and ebay for any parts.
