My recently acquired ´82 cm250 required some exhaust work. On the right side pipe, there was some rust on the top of the pipe just under and behind the foot peg. I removed the pipe, filed it down, and had a friend of mine weld a piece of steel to bridge the hole.

Sure, some rust on a 25 year old exhaust is expected, but I thought it was kind of strange that the rust was on the top of the pipe and not on the bottom, which seems to be more common. Also, the rust seemed to be in a line, as if it were along a seam or something. Possibly a manufacturing flaw... Has anyone else seen this kind of corrosion on their exhaust? How many of you have the original exhaust systems still in tact on your bikes?
