954 Engine failure |

Has anyone experienced or heard of anyone else who has had their cylinder block start to crack from the top of the liners downwards ? I have a 954 bought from new and it has full main dealer service history, its never overheated or had an oil system fault. I´ve found upon stripping the engine that a piece of liner in number 2 cylinder about the size of my thumb nail has actually fallen away from the wall and gone under the piston and into the gearbox. All the cylinders show signs of cracking but no other dammage. The mileage is 32,000 and I´d be gratefull to hear from anyone who has seen this before or who has any ideas as to how this may have come about. Honda UK have not been helpfull with issue as the bike is well out of warranty, the technical depertment insist it cannot be a manufacturing defect because they have no history of this type of failure on their system. Apparently I´m not allowed to be the first one and they hav´nt even asked to see the engine. Bullet proof Honda´s, Hmm |
