Hi, my name is Chris and I live in Durban, South Africa. I recently bought a 2001 F4i but it has a misfire on cyl 2 when it gets to about 85c, which then progresses to cyl 3. We have changed two ignition coils, plugs, cleaned out the injection system and put in new filters, we even checked the valve clearances even though the bike has only covered 16,000kms.The engine runs really well until it gets up to 85 or so then starts to misfire, there is a strong smell of fuel too and the fuel consumption is shocking. Honda mechanics are now at a bit of a loss to trace the fault, the electical side has been checked by an auto electrician and found to be fine. I wonder if a valve or two are sticking as the bike wasn´t used for about 6 months and the previous owner tells me that the problem started on the way back from a ride in May. Any ideas or advice would be most gratefully received as I have had the bike for 3 months and haven´t really ridden it! Cheers CHRIS |
