It isn´t as easy as you would expect. SOHC smaller lighter WAY cheaper to maintain. WAY easier to maintain. DOHC smoother cooler considerably more effience really heavy In the end the tendancy is SOHC are better performers in the lower end of gears, as the engine is lighter. DOHC are better in higher end of gears where the wieght tends to have less impact and the ability for the engine to reach higher RPMS allows you hold off in shifting. If you want out of the gate take off power from a dead stop, and an easier engine SOHC are the way to go. If you want better power overall, and don´t mind the complexity involved in the engine then go DOHC. |
