To properly use the dipstick to check oil level..place bike on centerstand, warm engine 2 to 3 minutes, unscrew the dipstick, then wipe, insert dipstick without screwing in to check level. Should be within the 2 lines and not over the top line. I personally use 10w-30 in my bike, I like the thicker oil to keep quieter. 10w-40 is good also, especially if solely use for summer. Engine oil (with filter change)- 2.5 liter (2.6 US quarts, 2.2 imp. qt.) Engine Oil at Overhaul - 3.2 liters (3.4 US quarts, 2.8 imp qt) Final drive check also on centerstand, correct level bottom of the filler hole, use API GL-5 hypoid gear oil. Final Drive Oil Capacity 1983 - 170cc (5.78 oz.) 1984-up 150cc (4.9 oz.) Final Drive Oil Viscosity 1983 Above 5 deg C (41 deg F) SAE90 Below 5 deg C (41 deg F) SAE80 1984-up SAE80 Forks left hand - 465cc (15.7 oz.) right hand - 450cc (15.2 oz.) Difference due to the anti-dive mechanism. The normal front fork air pressure is zero to 6 pounds, never exceed 43 pounds or can damage internals Hope this helps, any other questions just ask. |
