Check the earlier posts and you may see I had a similar problem. Couldn´t get it above 5500 in 5th and similar in the lower gears. My problem was air restriction. Take off the scoop-like cover over the air filter and replace it with 3 large washers to hold the filter in place. Take a test ride and see if this helps. It worked wonders for mine. I ended up customizing the scoop by removing 90% of it. Just thought it looked better than the washers. Also check out this forum for other good advice about the 650´s.
